Short answer: Raching humidors are worth it if you want an electric cigar cabinet for 1,200-4,000 cigars and don't want to pay Humidor Supreme or Vigilant prices. The water-cooled MON series is the one to buy: it holds humidity to ±1%, according to Raching. The cheaper C series is fine for most smokers, but its humidity swings more (±2%). Buy for the size you'll have in two years, not the size you have today. We sell Raching, so we've kept this honest. Below are the weak spots owners report, too.
What Raching is, and why US smokers buy it
Raching is a Chinese maker of climate-controlled cigar cabinets. It sells through US humidor dealers and on Wayfair and Amazon, and exhibits at the PCA trade show in Las Vegas. halfwheel called the 4,000-cigar MON5800A the company's new flagship when it launched.
The appeal is simple. A traditional cabinet follows the room: too dry in winter heating, too hot in a Florida or Texas summer. A Raching cools, heats and humidifies on its own, so you set 68°F and 70% and leave it. You don't need Boveda packs, and you don't have to recharge beads.
The three Raching lines, explained
MON series: water-cooled, ±1% humidity
MON cabinets put the refrigeration evaporator in water instead of blowing air across a bare cold coil. A bare coil pulls moisture out of the air every time the compressor runs, and that is the main reason cheap wineadors swing in humidity. Raching says its water-cooling avoids frost and that sharp dry-out. It also uses a PID controller for steadier temperature and humidity curves (halfwheel). An optional ammonia removal unit filters what fresh cigars give off.

C series: air-cooled value cabinets
The C series uses air cooling with fans that push air to every shelf. Raching rates humidity at ±2%. You get the most capacity per dollar here, and you can choose Spanish or Canadian cedar shelves. One owner, quoted by a review roundup, found an older C series cabinet swung when the cooler kicked in and a newer MON held steadier.

Reserva, CT48A and the double-door cabinets
The Reserva RR880 and RR980 are the luxury line: calf leather and burl wood, a color touch screen and a built-in draw resistance tester. The CT48A puts MON-style cooling in a stainless steel body. The CS600 and SD800 are 47-inch double-door cabinets. The SD800 can have a wine cooler on one side.

Specs and capacities are from Raching's 2026 price list. Capacity is counted in robustos. Cigars kept in boxes and large ring gauges take more room, so plan on the low end of each range.
MON2800A vs MON5800A: which size should you buy?
The MON2800A and the MON5800A are the two models we're asked about most. The price gap is $1,400, but the capacity gap is more than double. Per 1,000 cigars of capacity (top of the range), the MON2800A costs about $2,270 and the MON5800A about $1,200.
- Choose the MON2800A if you keep up to about 1,000 cigars today, buy a few boxes a year, and have a 24-inch wide spot. It's 198 lb and fits through any door.
- Choose the MON5800A if you already keep 1,500+ cigars, buy by the box, or run a home lounge. It adds 2 cedar boxes for open boxes and loose singles, and ammonia removal comes standard. Measure first: it's 27.6 inches deep and about 289 lb.

Most collectors outgrow their first cabinet. If the MON5800A fits your room and budget, it's the cheaper cabinet in the long run.
Raching humidor problems: what owners report
No electric humidor is trouble-free, and Raching is no exception. Here are the issues that come up in owner reviews and forums:
- Pumps and leaks. A review roundup reports Reddit owners with pump failures after 8-12 months, plus some water leaks. That is second-hand, but it's the most common complaint. Ask about the warranty before you buy (below).
- Display readings. Owners on the Friends of El Habano forum report the built-in display reading about 2% higher than a calibrated hygrometer. Put a separate digital hygrometer inside for the first weeks and set the cabinet by that.
- Hot rooms. One owner with an older air-cooled model in a warm room saw condensation and a cabinet that struggled in summer heat. Keep it in a conditioned room.
- Slow factory support. Owners say WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach Raching (about 12 hours). Buy from a dealer who handles that for you.
- Small quality-control misses. One Wayfair buyer received a cabinet without the lock key. Check everything on delivery.
- Long-term aging debate. On r/cubancigars, some smokers argue that sealed electric cabinets are not ideal for aging Cubans past a few years. Others age in them happily. If aging for a decade is your goal, keep ammonia removal on and air the cabinet now and then.
- Room heat. Like any compressor cabinet, a Raching sheds heat. Give it the clearance at the back and sides that the manual specifies, and don't put it in a closed closet.
Warranty
Bought from an authorized US dealer, Raching cabinets carry 2 years on the whole cabinet and 6 years on the compressor, with free replacement parts during the warranty (Raching's 2026 dealer agreement; Northwoods lists the same terms). Damage from handling, wrong voltage or self-repair is not covered. Buy from a dealer that handles the claim for you: we do.
Raching vs Humidor Supreme and Prestige
Raching sits between budget thermoelectric coolers and the American-made premium brands. Humidor Supreme electronic cabinets cost more for similar capacity, but they are built in the US with a longer track record in cigar shops. Prestige's electric Remington and Reagan cabinets are the closest match on price. Our best electric cigar humidors by budget guide puts all three side by side.
Raching humidor FAQ
Are Raching humidors worth it?
For a 1,200-4,000 cigar collection, yes. You get steady, automatic climate control for about half the price of US-built electronic cabinets. Buy the MON series if you can; the C series if budget decides.
Do Raching humidors need seasoning or Boveda packs?
No Boveda packs: the cabinet humidifies itself from its water tank. Wipe the cedar, fill the tank, and let the cabinet run empty at your set point for a day or two so the wood settles before you load it.
What humidity should I set?
Most smokers run 65-70% at 65-68°F. Go lower (62-65%) for a better draw on cigars you'll smoke soon, and higher for long aging. See our wineador vs humidor vs electric humidor guide.
Where is Raching made?
Raching is based in China, which is part of why it costs less than American-built cabinets.
