Which air purifier do you need? Start with the problem

Most air purifiers are built for dust and pollen: a HEPA filter and a thin sheet of carbon. That works for particles, but smoke odor, chemical fumes and VOCs are gases, and gases are removed by carbon weight. Airpura purifiers carry 18 to 38 lb of activated carbon, many times what a typical home purifier holds, and each model is tuned for one job.

600 or 700 series?

The 600 series moves up to 560 CFM; the 700 series moves up to 635 CFM for larger or busier rooms. Both are rated for spaces up to 2,000 sq ft. For a room where people smoke every day, size by air changes per hour rather than square feet; our ventilation guide shows the math.

A room where several people smoke every day needs more than a home unit. HEPA traps particles such as dust, pollen and the visible part of smoke. Carbon adsorbs gases: odors, VOCs, formaldehyde and the smell that lingers after smoke clears. If your problem is something you can smell, carbon weight matters more than the HEPA rating.

Frequently asked questions

How big a room does an Airpura cover?
Up to 2,000 sq ft per unit. For heavy smoke, plan by air changes per hour; large lounges often use two units placed apart, or an industrial 900 MAX.

Are Airpura purifiers loud?
On high they are audible, like any purifier moving 500+ CFM. Most owners run them on a lower speed day to day and turn them up when needed.

What warranty do they have?
Most models carry a 5-year parts and 10-year labor warranty from Airpura.
