Collector Climate Card

Your Collector Climate Card. Keep this with your humidor. It's the short version of our full setup guide, and following it is all the 30-Day Humidity Promise asks of you.

Target settings

What Set it to Why
Humidity 65–70% (65% if you mostly smoke within months; 68–70% for long aging) Above 72% risks mold and beetles; below 62% dries the wrapper.
Temperature 65–68°F Tobacco beetle eggs can hatch above about 72°F.
Water Distilled only Tap water minerals clog humidifiers and feed mold.

Day 1: setup (electric humidor)

  1. Let it stand upright for the time the manual specifies before plugging it in, so the compressor oil settles after shipping.
  2. Test your hygrometer with the salt test: a bottle cap of damp table salt and the hygrometer in a sealed bag for 8+ hours should read 75%. Note the difference and correct every reading by it.
  3. Fill the reservoir with distilled water, set temperature and humidity, and run it empty until readings hold steady for a day or two.
  4. Add cigars in stages over a week, not all at once. Dry cigars release or absorb moisture and swing the readings.

Routine

When Do this
Weekly Glance at the display and your hygrometer. Top up distilled water.
Every 2 months Empty and clean the water reservoir (mild vinegar solution, rinse with distilled water).
Every 3–6 months Repeat the salt test. Check that door seals close evenly.
Summer Keep the room cool. If the cabinet runs near 70°F, lower the set temperature.

If something looks wrong

  • Humidity won't hold 65–72% in the first 30 days after delivery: call us at (985) 531-8513. We troubleshoot it with you and ship the part it needs at our cost.
  • White or green fuzz on cigars or wood: lower humidity, isolate affected cigars and see our guides on mold vs. plume.
  • Tiny round holes in wrappers: possible tobacco beetles. Freeze affected cigars (see our beetle guide) and check the temperature.
  • Electronics fault: don't open the unit. Email us a photo of the display and your order number. We handle the warranty claim with the maker.

Questions anytime: reply to any of our emails or call a real person at (985) 531-8513.
